Say coucou 👋 to Phosgène - Digital Wavetable / FM Oscillator. This compact module (2hp) provides 60 wavetables through 2 Banks of 30 waves 🌊 combining waveshaping with FM in parallel -both available through separate outputs. The immense amount of distinctive synthetic sounds and their timbre variations are contained here within wave folding - controlled manually and with external CV.
FM is implemented with particularity of using 100 Hz frequency base resulting in more sober spectrum ideal for tight FM 📻 basses and dark deep modulations. FM shares the same controls while your CV will push deeper into frequency modulation territory.
This oscillator tracks V/Oct. through 8 octaves, have octave switch going one step/octave up & down and dispose also an ´octave displace’ function switch : this allows to place all octaves further down in the octave scale (applies only to wavetables not FM -leaving full range for deep continuous fm.) Why this function ? For multiple reasons at once : as it can go pretty high with 8 octaves while folding will make it even brighter, than some wavetables containing noise are less performative this high, aliasing is more pronounced so this oct. scaler is pretty handy to keep things in usable frame and provide extended low end for folded timbres which otherwise you wouldn’t have (or would be a dead octave). Obviously you’ll get at some points some unwanted (or wanted ?) digital trash :) but the concrete lower resolution (11bit) wavetable sound is well worth it :)
The module will save your last settings (Bank, wave, octave) so you’ll find them after rebooting your system.
How it sounds? Phosgène (coCl2) is an industrial poison ☠️ used mainly for fabricating plastics ℹ️
Now you’ll have a complete palette 🎨 to paint the capitalist/imperialist hellscape we’re living in ☑️

A quick user's guide:
The module is very simple to use, interface consists of: V/Oct input on top, octave switch button switching between 3 octaves in the following manner: short presses = octave up (cycling), longer press=octave down, than
two knobs: Coarse = Frequency control and Fold potentiometer and its CV input. Those controls are shared with FM engine: Coarse = Frequency control of the Carrier (Sine Wave), Mod knob = modulation potentiometer with its CV who'll push/pull amplitude of the modulation.
Octave buton (as well as Bank buton) is only vailid for wavetables/fold use, it will not apply on FM part of the module leaving whole range to frequency modulation.
Wavetables folded will be outputed on the 'Wave Out' while the FM will be outputed on FM out.
Button Wave Select will select next waveform with short pushes, longer push to change the Bank (Bank1or Bank2)
´Octave displace’ function switch places all octaves about one octave further down in the octave scale.
Last settings (Bank, Wave, Octave) will be saved and recalled after rebooting your rack.
